KARL MAYER Technische Textilien makes preparations for its successful participation in JEC World, Pavilion 5A, Stand P59, 08.-10.03.2016 in Paris

KARL MAYER belongs to the long-standing exhibitors at the JEC Composite Show in Paris. This experienced textile machinery manufacturer is already well established in the composite industry in particular due to its innovative Biaxial and Multiaxial warp knitting machines and also thanks to its fiber-spreading technology. For a long time now, this company has been setting the trend in this field. For the first time, KARL MAYER will be present at JEC World 2016 from 8. to 10. March together with its new affiliated company KARL MAYER Technische Textilien GmbH, Pavilion 5A, Stand P59. Last year the young limited company resulted from the merger of KARL MAYER LIBA in Naila and KARL MAYER MALIMO based in Chemnitz. At its premiere in Paris the newcomer will benefit from the high degree of reputation of the two fusion partners. Jochen Schmidt, member of the Management Board of KARL MAYER Technische Textilien GmbH, expects to welcome a lot of visitors and to receive numerous specific inquiries. „With our trade-fair appearance we wish to make the name of our new company known to the market, and to further strengthen our position as innovative development partner for the composite industry“, explained Jochen Schmidt when being asked about the major objectives for attending the show. As expression of its high level of expertise in a wide variety of applications, KARL MAYER’s presentation will focus on an especially eye-catching product made from a composite material: a kite board with a reinforcement produced from a multi-axial layer fabric manufactured on one of its machines.

The ultra-light but still stable sports equipment consists of two hybrid laminates which cover a poplar wood core on their upper and lower sides. The composites in the top and bottom structures combine a carbon multi-axial layer fabric +/- 45° produced on a MAX 5 machine with a UD glass fiber material in 0° direction as reinforced tension/compression chord. Epoxy resin was used as matrix. By means of a transparent functional covering layer it is possible to provide the smart board with a stylish design by using the thermal sublimation printing method.
