ICA and BTMA Express Commitment to Strengthen Collaboration

International Cotton Association (ICA) and Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) Express Commitment to Strengthen Collaboration.

Ms. Kim Hanna, President of ICA and Mr. Bill Kingdon, Managing Director of ICA, met with Mr. Showkat Aziz Russell, President of BTMA on September 23, 2024 at BTMA Gulshan office. Mr. Md. Shamim Islam, Mr. Md. Abul Kalam, and Mr. Saleudh Zaman Khan, all vice presidents of BTMA, Mr. Shafiqul Islam Sarker, Director of BTMA & ICA and members of the BTMA Board of Directors from the Yarn Manufacturer category were present at the meeting. The discussion focused on fostering a strong, mutually beneficial relationship between the two organizations.

During the discussions, the President of BTMA emphasized two key points: Firstly, both cotton sellers and buyers must ensure the validity of contracts, which requires direct written confirmation from the buyer within 24 hours, typically via email. Secondly, the establishment of a joint BTMAICA testing laboratory in Bangladesh was proposed to enhance quality assurance.

Ms. Hanna and Mr. Kingdon expressed their commitment to reviewing BTMA‘s proposals to strengthen the collaboration between the two associations. The meeting concluded with a strong sense of partnership emphasizing the potential for future initiatives that will benefit both organizations.
