Southeast Asia is playing an extremely important role in textile and apparel industry. SEA has Strong comparative advantages for manufacturers (market access, low labor costs, investment incentives and existing industrial basis). In the meanwhile, Rising wages, unskilled labor force and international completion are the main challenges. Textile and Apparel Industry is developing rapidly in Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, Bangladesh, India and other countries in Asia. Cambodia’s textile and apparel industry has become a main pillar of its economy. Figures indicate that FDI in this industry reached USD 248 million. Cambodia’s apparel exports are mostly shipped to Western countries, with the European Union (EU) holding the lion’s share (40%), followed by the United States (25%).
Textile and Apparel SEA Summit 2019 will be held on October 28-29, 2019 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The summit aims provide the opportunity for industry chain stakeholders to win textile and apparel business and ensure growth in SEA Region. It will grasp the latest opportunity and trends, together with good practice sharing to accelerate industry upgrade and development. Relevant high-level leaders will discuss the highlights on Policy, Market Access, Sourcing Strategy, Local Factories, Labors, Production, Supply Chain, Logistics and Testing.
