UAE urged to ease visa processing for Bangladeshi
Ambassador of United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Bangladesh H.E. Dr. Saeed Hajar Al-Shehi calls on President of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) Mohammad Shahjahan Khan at DCCI on 5 March, 2014. DCCI Senior Vice President Osama Taseer, Vice President Kh. Shahidul Islam and members of the DCCI Board were also present during the meeting.
DCCI President Mohammad Shahjahan Khan welcomed the UAE Ambassador to DCCI. DCCI President called upon the UAE Ambassador to ease visa processing for Bangladeshi people especially for the business community of Bangladesh. He said if Bangladeshi businessmen get easy visa facility, they could expand their businesses more in UAE. He said that about 1 (one) million Bangladeshi people work in UAE in different positions who are not only contributing to the economy of Bangladesh but also the economy of UAE. DCCI President also urged to give more opportunity to Bangladeshi Doctors, Nurses, Engineers and ICT specialists to work in UAE. He invited UAE’s investment in the power & energy, renewable energy, electronics, frozen foods, leather and leather products, pharmaceuticals, agro-based food, ship-building sector of Bangladesh. He also requested the UAE through the Ambassador to import tea, chemical products, leather products, jute and jute goods, halal food, vegetables and Atar (Otto) from Bangladesh.
Ambassador of UAE to Bangladesh H.E. Dr. Saeed Bin Hajar Al-Shehi said that businessmen of UAE should be well acquainted with the trade related policies, rules and regulations of Bangladesh to attract them in investing here. He also mentioned that exchange of trade delegation and chamber to chamber close contact may boost bilateral business volume. Regarding visa processing, he said that Bangladeshi businessmen will get priority in getting visa of UAE. He emphasized on increasing trust and cooperation among the businessmen of both the countries.
DCCI Senior Vice President Osama Taseer said that retailers of other countries are selling world class branded ready-made garments manufactured in Bangladesh to UAE. He urged UAE Ambassador to look into the matter so that both the countries are benefitted.
DCCI Directors Haider Ahmed Khan, FCA, Nessar Maksud Khan, Md. Iftekharuddin (Naushad), Humayun Rashid, Muktar Hossain Chowdhury, S Rumi Saifullah, Hossain A Sikder, Alhaj Abdus Salam, Md. Shoaib Choudhury and A.K.D. Khair Mohammad Khan were also present during the meeting.
