Annual Summit to focus on “Disruption, Innovation, and Transformation”

(Washington, D.C.) Leaders from two of the most innovative and transformative brands in the apparel and footwear industry will headline the 2016 American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) Executive Summit, “Disruption, Innovation, and Transformation,” held March 16-17 in Washington, D.C.

AAFA today announced that Chip Bergh, president & chief executive officer of Levi Strauss & Co. (LS&Co.) and the co-founders of Shoes of Prey: Michael Fox, co-founder & chief executive officer; Jodie Fox, co-founder & chief creative officer; and Mike Knapp, co-founder & chief technology officer, will deliver the keynote presentations at its annual gathering of apparel and footwear executives.

“Both the pace of change within the industry and the need to respond to consumers and policymakers are at the top of executives’ minds, so AAFA has designed an agenda for the Summit that addresses both disruption and innovation,” said Rick Helfenbein, incoming president and CEO of AAFA. “The top leaders from Levi Strauss & Co. and Shoes of Prey couldn’t be more fitting as keynote speakers – both organizations have transformed the industry in their own way, one as an iconic global brand driven by purpose, and the other as a newcomer reimagining how we buy shoes.”

Levi Strauss & Co. is one of the world’s largest brand-name apparel companies and a global leader in jeanswear. The company designs, markets and sells jeans, casual wear and related accessories for men, women and children under the Levi’s®, Dockers®, Signature by Levi Strauss & Co.™, and Denizen® brands. Its products are sold in more than 110 countries worldwide through a combination of chain retailers, department stores, online sites, and a global footprint of approximately 2,700 retail stores and shop-in-shops. Chip Bergh will provide perspective on the industry landscape and navigating an iconic global brand through a period of rapid disruption and transformation.

With over five million shoes designed to-date, the company is rapidly expanding throughout the U.S. and is not only transforming the way women shop for shoes, but also how product is brought to market.

Held in Washington, D.C. and attended by C-suite executives from across the industry, AAFA’s Executive Summit will feature speakers and panels on the topics of marketplace disruptions, brand management, and growth in the global marketplace. For a full list of speakers, see the agenda.
